Ruby

Ruby joined the BFC family in December, 2016. Ruby was of great help during the loss of Thea in April, 2017. Ruby loves being at home and isn't at the office as often as Harvey, but when she is at BFC, expect to see her lying across three seats at once by the front windows. On the days both dogs are in the office, it is always fun to watch a person entering through the front door with two 100+ pound dogs waiting to say hello! Just like Thea, both dogs show concern when babies cry or someone is having a tough day. Ruby is more aloof and quiet while Harvey is all about the attention! The dogs at BFC bring smiles to faces and are a beneficial part of the care here in our office.

Interview with Ruby, by Dr. Helena

Dr. H: "Hello beautiful girl.  I'm going to ask you a few questions today.  There are things people want to know about you!"

Ruby: "Ok Mom!"

Dr. H: "Ruby, what is your first memory?"

Ruby: "I remember sitting on your lap in a snow storm.  I remember exploring my new house and playing in the snow with Lily and Miles."

Dr. H: "What do you like better, coming to the office or staying at home?"

Ruby: "I love adventures and going places.  I love spending time in the office and greeting friends at the front door!  I also like stretching out and taking up the seats by the window. However, I do like laying in the sun on warm days and running around in the snow on cold days.  I like being with you, Lily and Miles and having quiet, cozy days.  A visit to the office every once in awhile is nice, but I truly like to be at home."

Dr. H: "What are some things people should know about you?"

Ruby: "I am an introvert.  I have never really liked loud noises.  I jump when a person or kid moves too fast or makes a sudden loud noise.  I also feel people out by coming over to them and sniffing them first.  If I want to be pet I will stay.  If I don't, I'll walk away."

Dr. H: "What are some things you do to get attention?"

Ruby: "If someone is sitting at my height, I love to put my face in their face and say hello!  Sometimes I will lick your chin, but most the time I just like to be close to that person.  Other times I may lay my head on a persons' chest or if they are standing, lean all of my weight into them.  That is my way of hugging the people I love."

Dr. H: "What do you think of Harvey?"

Ruby: "I love my brother! I love that Dog Star lets us room together when we are off on a play date.  Harvey is great and we have a great time playing chase around the yard!"

Dr. H: "Thank you Ruby for taking the time to answer my questions today.  I love you girl!"

Ruby: "I love you too Mom!"
